About Us

Telling a Story.

Every small business to every school district to every corporation has a story to tell.  The story comes out in press releases, white papers, advertisements, memos, bulletins, newsletters, annual reports, brochures, employee manuals, posters, letters, websites.  The words come together to paint a mental picture.  That is the who we are - the word painter.

I have painted a picture and told a story with words in many professional settings before deciding to freelance.  My two decades of a broad career journey have allowed me to work at Arthur Andersen, the Office of Equal Opportunity-State of Missouri, University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Iowa, Hallmark Cards, Inc., (and projects with their subsidiaries including DaySpring, Crayola, InterArts, ImageArts, and brands like Keepsakes, Christian Expressions, and Hallmark Licensing), Avila University, and Crate & Barrel Furniture.   

I have written several highly rated peer-review articles on Helium.com.  I also write a blog.  I have written press releases, contributed to articles, and am currently a citizen journalist. 

My voice in essays, general interest articles, and memoirs can best be described as somewhat poetic.  I've been dubbed a "wordsmith" by my late mentor, Hardie Bell.  His encouragement is the inspiraiton behind The Wooden Pen.

On a personal note, I am married, I write under the pseudonym of Taye Foster Bradshaw primarily because it is to honor my late parents and to reflect my rich legacy.  I am the mother of six biological children and too many surrogate children to name.  I love life!  I believe in living it to the fullest and am sometimes at my happiest in the chaos of a full house.  I love a rich, creamy vanilla latte and my daughters are my twin selves.  I bring a passion to my work that is second only to my passion for my faith and my family.
